If you are suffering from a bladder infection (otherwise known as UTI - urinary tract infection) and you don’t like using conventional medication, there are a lot of natural remedies available. A bladder infection is an infection in the urethra due to the build-up of bacteria. The urethra is the internal tube that carries urine out of your body, but it can also carry bacteria into the bladder, which is the main cause of this infection. It is more common in women than in men. If it continues for a long period, or gets worse, it is important to see your doctor. You should also know that it can be treated using these natural remedies for bladder infection.

1. Drink a lot of water
This is one of the best natural remedies for bladder infection. Fluids flush out the bacteria and make urine less concentrated, which can reduce the burning sensation when urinating. It is suggested that you drink more than the recommended 8 glasses of water.

2. Urinate as much as possible
Although urinating can be painful, holding your urine in is not a good idea. Rather urinate as much as possible to keep flushing out the bacteria within your urethra. If you keep your urine in, the bacteria will proliferate.

3. Drink baking soda
Baking soda is an alkaline substance-that will help neutralise the acidity in the urine. Baking soda will also help to ease the discomfort and burning sensation when urinating. Use 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and drink once a day in the mornings. Do not drink this for more than a week.

4. Apply heat
If you have pain and cramps, apply heat to the bladder and areas around it. This will bring significant relief. It will relax your muscles responsible for the spasms and inflammation. You can use a hot water bottle and leave it on the bladder for as long as needed.

These are only a few of the natural remedies for bladder infection but they have been proven to work. Why spend money on expensive doctor consultations and medications if you resolve the problem yourself, but be sure to consult your doctor if the problem recurs.
